I know that so many people say, oh it is just a day and I hear you but, how can anyone not want to celebrate a day filled with love. I personally enjoy creating something special for each of my children just as my mother did when I was young. I digress, this blog is not about Valentine baskets – we will save this for a later day but instead, today is about spreading love through art.
We have family that is scattered all through the Midwest and some snow bird grandparents so sometimes holidays are spent apart – this is the perfect way to spread a little joy through snail mail with supplies you likely have sitting at home already. They will really appreciate a Valentine art project from their grandkids.
First things first, gather your supplies – We have a whole painting set up in our home and it makes art set up and clean up an actual breeze. We have a silicone art mat, paint brushes in a variety of sizes, poster paint, acrylic paint, finger paint, construction paper, and my favorite paint brush washer – you think you don’t need this, I promise you do. You will need, construction paper, paint, scissors, and glue for this DIY Valentine art project. Have your children paint construction paper in any colors or designs, we like adding glitter for some extra fun. Once they have finished let them air dry 100%. While they are drying take a photo of your child in front of a white wall from the side blowing a kiss – see below

From there you have two options, you can print out the photo and then glue it to a white paper OR you can use a video editor app like I used. I used Canva and placed the photo on an 8×10.5 template and removed the background. Either option works wonderfully.
Once the construction paper is dry you cut heart and glue them onto your picture so it looks as if your child is blowing kisses made of hearts. Such a cute and easy Valentine art project for all!
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner!
